Austrians keep on winning in the women’s World Cup

After the victories of Chiara Hoelzl in Klingenthal and Marita Kramer on Saturday in Sapporo, Eva Pinkelnig now claimed the third win in a row for the Austrian ski jumpers. 31-year-old Pinkelnig won the second competition in Sapporo with 250.8 points, ahead of Norway’s Maren Lundby and Daniela Iraschko-Stolz (AUT).

Her jumps of 135.5 m and 130 m earned Eva Pinkelnig a lead of more than eleven points over Lundby. It was the first World Cup win for Pinkelnig in her 68th competition. «It’s a great feeling to win, I had three great jumps together with the qualification round, the hill was prepared perfectly. I’m really happy about my results. It’s my first World Cup win, I’m surprised and I can’t believe it. I woke up today and I had a good feeling.

Maren Lundby, who remains the overall World Cup leader, repeated her second place from yesterday’s competition. And like on Saturday, Lundby set a hill record. The Olympic champion landed at 139.5 m in the second round: «I’m happy about the second place. I had a really good jump in the second round. I need to continue working, but my jumps are stable. I need to take all the experiences to Zao with me.»
