Peter Prevc wins in Lillehammer

Slovenia’s Peter Prevc won the Ski Jumping World Cup in Lillehammer (NOR) on Monday evening. The 2015/16 overall World Cup winner came in just ahead of the two Germans Markus Eisenbichler and Stephan Leyhe.

Peter Prevc hasn’t claimed a World Cup win since Sapporo 2017, so the oldest of the three Prevc brothers was obviously extremely satisfied with today’s result. «Of course, I’m very satisfied and happy about this win. My jumps were very good today and I hope that I can perform on a similar level again tomorrow», explained the winner, for whom this was the 23rd World Cup win, the first since February 2017.

The German team also had a good reason to celebrate today as Markus Eisenbichler and Stephan Leyhe finished second and third. «It was a pretty good day for me. I had a really good start here already in training. The first jump in the competition was amazing, the second one was then a bit too aggressive for the conditions. I didn’t know how the conditions would be, but I wanted to attack. I tried and I came in second. I’m very happy about the result. It’s been a bad season, so it’s great to be on the podium», said Eisenbichler.
