The Land Rover Defender 110 is the larger variant in its range, powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four base engine, codenamed P300 by the manufacturer. This rugged piece of machinery is capable of producing up to 296 hp at 5,500, along with a solid 295 pound-feet (400 Nm) of torque at 1,500 rpm. When equipped with the P300, the Defender will accelerate 0-62 mph (0-100 kph) in 8.1 seconds and reach a top speed of 119 mph (191 kph).
This power is carried to an all-wheel-drive system by means of an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission, while locking differentials and a fully independent suspension setup help this bad boy roam over challenging terrain without breaking a sweat. Speaking of all-terrain goodness, Land Rover’s beast was blessed with the ability to navigate through 35.4 inches (90 cm) of water, thanks to 11.5 inches (29 cm) of ground clearance.
Inside, you will find a six-speaker high-definition audio system and an onboard Wi-Fi hotspot, besides a 10” (25.4 cm) touchscreen display that houses the firm’s very own Pivi Pro infotainment software. On the other hand, a digital gauge cluster and Meridian stereos with up to 14 speakers are a couple of the optional upgrades in the 2020 Defender package.
Long story short, it’s a spectacular machine and it only makes sense that a reputed studio like Carlex Design would choose this delicious mid-sized SUV for one of their ambitious conversions. Over the years, this Polish firm stacked up on some truly ravishing projects, such as the insane Mercedes-AMG GT R Pro Tattoo Edition, their outlandish G63 Steampunk Edition and a very funky makeover of Porsche Cayenne’s interior, to name a few.
Their Defender-based marvel was dubbed Yachting Edition and as soon as you step inside the cabin, you’ll understand why. Firstly, everything is covered in white upholstery, from the seats and steering wheel, to the dashboard, center console and door panels.
For a stylish contrast, it is accompanied by countless wooden accents. Not only does this design make Defender’s cockpit look incredibly lavish, it also brings about that whole seaside vibe. Now, I don’t know about you, but I dig it!
Alternatively, a combination of silver accents and golden upholstery make for a vintage aesthetic that looks just as exquisite. Still, if you ask me, I’ll have to go with the white leather and splendid wooden accents. To top it all off, the bodywork received a gorgeous brushed silver finish.
Carlex Design revealed this masterpiece on their Facebook page, where you’ll also find their other stunning works of art. However, if you’re more of an Instagram person, their breathtaking portfolio can be admired there too.
