Extraordinary Sofia Goggia (ITA). After the two victories in the downhill, in Lake Louise, she also won the super-G.
The win completed an extraordinary hat-trick, which in Lake Louise was previously only accomplished by German Katja Seizinger (1997) and Lindsey Vonn three times (2011, 2012, 2015).
For the italian skier, it was her fourteenth victory, her fourth in the super-G almost two years after her last success in the discipline in 2019 in St. Moritz.
Goggia perfectly interpreted the course with several pitfalls and with two key passages: the turns between Fishing Net and Fall Away, where the Italian had already made the difference in the downhill, and the last jump where you had to guess the entrance. Goggia made the difference, especially in this section, beating world champion Lara Gut-Behrami (SUI) by 0.11.
The Swiss skier performed a clean and very confident run by reviewing smoother skiing than the two downhill races. Third place went to Mirjam Puchner (AUT) at 0.44, who rounded out the weekend on a high note with her second podium in three days.
The Women’s World Cup returns to Europe for the traditional weekend in St. Moritz.
