Former President Donald Trump is planning a Memphis-area event in June.
Trump’s «American Freedom Tour» could be coming to the Landers Center in Southaven on June 18. The tour’s website lists a June 18 event in Memphis and then a Capleville-area zip code, but the tour told broadcast outlets in Alabama, where a previous June 18 was scheduled and then canceled, that it was planning on coming to the Landers Center.
Todd Mastry, the executive director of the Landers Center, said Wednesday that the venue was working towards an event on that date but «the event is not official nor is there a signed contract.»
In previous stops on the tour, Trump has hinted at a 2024 run for the White House.
«You had a president that always put America first,» Trump said on March 19 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, according to WPTV. «I will be back and we will be better and stronger than ever before.»
The event promises to feature the former president, Donald Trump, Jr. and a bevy of other conservatives, including — Dinesh D’Souza, Kayleigh McEnany, Dan Bongino, Laura Ingraham, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, Judge Jeanine Pirro, Sheriff Mark Lamb, former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, according to its website.
In 2018, ahead of the midterm elections, then-President Trump visited Southaven to stump for Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith.
